Our aim

We want everyone to be able to browse, choose and buy from Birch & Bracken, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification or reduced motion. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

What we have done

Text and its background are chosen for readable contrast, and body text is set at a generous size.

Every product photograph carries a text description. Decorative images are hidden from screen readers.

Pages can be used with a keyboard, and the element in focus is outlined.

If your device asks for reduced motion, our animations are switched off and every page appears at once.

Forms label each field, explain what is needed, and describe any error in words rather than colour alone.

Pages work on small screens and when text is enlarged.

What we are still working on

We have not yet had an independent accessibility audit. We test our pages ourselves and fix what we find.

Payment is completed in PayPal's own secure window (on a phone, its own tab), whose accessibility PayPal is responsible for.

Some product photographs show fine details, such as knit patterns, that a text description can only summarise.

Tell us

If anything on our site is hard to use, or you need information in another way, write to hello@birchbracken.com. Tell us the page and what happened, and we will reply within two business days and help you complete your order.
